Ocean Perspective is a Belgian non-profit (ASBL) based in Brussels that uses immersive underwater photography and visual storytelling to rebuild the emotional bond between people and the ocean. Founded by professional underwater photographer Louis David, the organisation operates from a core conviction: that beauty, wonder, and emotional connection are more powerful catalysts for ocean protection than fear or data alone.
Ocean Perspective sits at the intersection of art, science, and civic engagement. Its work combines professional-grade underwater imagery with outreach programmes, educational initiatives, and public exhibitions designed to make the invisible world beneath the surface accessible and meaningful to general audiences — including those who may never dive.
Key programmes and activities:
Mission Ocean is a creative contest for Belgian primary school children (ages 8–10) that invites entire classes to develop and present their own ocean conservation ideas through artistic expression — drawings, collages, sculptures, photography, or any medium of their choosing. The programme cultivates early ocean literacy by engaging children not as passive recipients of information, but as active creative voices for ocean health.
With a vision to grow from Belgium into a respected ocean storytelling and cultural platform across Europe, Ocean Perspective seeks to build a network of artists, scientists, educators, and engaged citizens united by the conviction that the ocean's future depends on how many people genuinely feel connected to it.
